The opportunity to meet so many inspiring women you don’t know in your own community—to see what these women have done and what they are empowered to do for the community—and for members of the community. It’s a great organization.

I appreciate the volunteer opportunities that United Way provides. The staff makes it easy to give back and make a difference in our communities. Because the events are already scheduled and organized, it easily enables me to spend time with others, meet new people and help out.

While Tara was in high school she wasn’t sure that college was going to be a possibility for her financially. Then she discovered the Neighborhood Learning Alliance (NLA), funded by United Way. NLA supports students in high school struggling with housing insecurity and financial assistance through a college program called “High School U”.

“It’s not just donating money. You can donate your time. You can help spread the word. I think meeting other women, of all ages, that care about the community is just a big deal. It is empowering to see the difference we can make, the ideas that we come up with and the friendships that have been formed.”
