Alexis Miller

Alexis Miller, in her role as Market President for Federal Markets, is responsible for managing High mark’s Medicare Individual, Medicare Employer Group and ACA Individual businesses. With annual revenue of nearly $4b, Federal Markets represent ~1/3 of High mark, Inc.’ s annual revenue and is a focus area for continued growth.

Alexis leads a team to develop and execute the strategy to attract, retain and serve Medicare and ACA members while operating within the guidelines of federal programs and state regulations, and delivering business performance results in alignment with corporate goals.

Alexis has been serving High mark customers in various leadership roles since she joined High mark in May of 2006. In her most recent prior role of SVP, Senior Markets, Alexis led the team to successfully grow the Medicare Advantage business, as well as establish the foundation for future growth. Before that, in her role as SVP, Individual & Small Group Markets, Alexis was instrumental in leading the company to turn around and stabilize the financial performance of the ACA (Affordable Care Act) business during a time of changing government policy and market dynamics. Prior to that Alexis held positions including VP, Provider Reimbursement, VP, Subsidiary Operations and Program Director, Integration.

Prior to joining High mark Inc., Alexis spent more than a decade in management consulting for Cap Gemini Ernst & Young. In this capacity Alexis assisted large consumer products, automotive and financial services companies in better understanding and improving the performance of their products and services
Alexis was born, raised and educated in the Pittsburgh area. She holds a B.A., Economics from the University of Pittsburgh and an M.B.A., Finance from Katz Graduate School of Business.

Dr. Trisha Gadson

Dr. Trisha Gadson is the Chief Executive Officer of Macedonia Family and Community Enrichment Center, Inc., a community based organization that specializes in engaging and partnering with families and communities that utilizes a racial equity service model. Dr. Gadson serves on advisory councils for the Bayer Center for Non Profit Management at Robert Morris University, the Hill District Community Engagement Center of the University of Pittsburgh and the Department of Community Engagement at Point Park University. She is also a member of the Women’s Leadership Council of the United Way of Southwestern Pennsylvania, and a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. She was named by the New Pittsburgh Courier as one of Pittsburgh’s 50 Women of Excellence.

Dr. Gadson earned a Ph.D. from Point Park University, a Master’s of Science in professional leadershi from Carlow University, and a Bachelor of Arts in psychology from Syracuse University. She also holds a national certification as a Bullying Prevention Program Trainer& Consultant from the Institute on Family & Neighborhood Life at Clemson University as well as a Leadership Credential for Strength Based Family Workers from Temple University. In addition, Dr. Gadson is a recognized diversity and inclusion facilitator. She received training from the National Multicultural Institute and she holds a Fostering Inclusion and Diversity Certificate from Yale School of Management. She has supported several schools throughout Pennsylvania in the implementation of violence prevention and diversity services. Her research focus and continued advocacy centers on the impact of community engaged racialized conversations on educational outcomes for African American students. She has authored human service articles and published a novel.

Julian E. Gray

Julian E. Gray, Certified Elder Law Attorney, Julian is the founder and managing attorney of Julian Gray Associates located in Greentree and McMurray and has provided assistance to a variety of clients and their families for over 25 years in the areas of elder law and special needs planning. He received his Bachelor’s degree from Penn State University and his law degree from Duquesne University School of Law. Julian is a frequent author and lecturer for continuing legal education programs and serves on various regional and national Boards and Committees dedicated to assisting individuals with disabilities. Mr. Gray is recognized as a multi-year Pennsylvania Super Lawyer and in Bestlawyers in America in the area of Elder Law. For over a decade, Julian has co-authored a monthly Elder Law column in the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.

John M. Wilds, Ph.D. SPHR – Moderator

Prior to his retirement on July 31, 2019, Dr. Wilds served as Assistant Vice Chancellor for Community Relations in the office of Community and Governmental Relations at the University of Pittsburgh with primary responsibility for managing the University’s community relations agenda. Prior to this assignment, he held the positions of Assistant Vice Chancellor for Community and Governmental Relations and Director- Governmental Relations. In addition, Dr. Wilds managed the University’s Office of Human Resources for ten years.

Prior to joining the University, Dr. Wilds was Vice President of Human Resources for Warner Cable Corporation of Pittsburgh where he had the responsibility of managing all human resource functions. He also worked for Jones & Laughlin Steel Corporation holding managerial positions in human resource planning, employee development, labor relations, employment and equal employment opportunity.

Dr. Wilds has been an adjunct lecturer in the Joseph M. Katz Graduate School of Business and the School of Business and the School of Information Science at the University of Pittsburgh and, the H. John Heinz III School of Public Policy Management at Carnegie Mellon University teaching courses in human resources management.

Dr. Wilds a certified Senior Professional in Human Resources is Past President of the Pittsburgh Human Resources Association and a member of the Society for Human Resources Management. He currently serves on the boards of Family House, Construction Junction, the Pennsylvania Organization for Women in Early Recovery (POWER), and the Oakland Business Improvement District. His previous board assignments were with HIGHMARK, Pennsylvania Blue Shield, Center of Hearing and Deaf Services, The Pittsburgh Board of Education, Urban League of Pittsburgh, Regional Funding Development Corporation, the United Way of Allegheny County and the Intergovernmental Cooperation Authority for Cities of the Second Class Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. Dr. Wilds also served as a member and Chair of the City of Pittsburgh’s Commission on Human Relations.

Dr. Wilds received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Social Science and Psychology, a Masters and Doctorate in Education Psychology from the University of Pittsburgh. He also attended post- graduate programs at the University of Chicago and Cornell University.

Dr. Wilds is a member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Star of the West Lodge No. 62 F&AM, St. Cyprian Consistory No. 4 AASR of Free Masonry.
