NISH VARTANIAN

President, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer

As Chief Executive Officer of MSA, Mr. Vartanian oversees MSA’s global business, managed through the company’s two primary business segments: MSA Americas and MSA International. In this capacity, Mr. Vartanian is responsible for all MSA business initiatives, strategy development, and operations throughout North America, Europe, Latin America, and Asia Pacific. He has served as a director of MSA since 2017 and was elected Chief Executive Officer in May of 2018. In 2020, Mr. Vartanian was elected Chairman.

Over the past decade, Mr. Vartanian has held roles of increasing responsibility, including President and Chief Operating Officer, President of MSA’s Americas business segment, and President of MSA North America.

In 2010, Mr. Vartanian led MSA’s integration of California-based General Monitors, which established MSA as the global leader in fixed systems for gas and flame detection, creating broad new growth opportunities in the global oil and gas markets. Today, this segment of business represents one of MSA’s single largest product areas.

Mr. Vartanian joined MSA in 1985 as a Sales Intern. Over the years, he has worked in a broad range of sales leadership positions, including Regional Sales Manager, National Sales Manager, Director of North American Sales, and Director of Integration & Chief Operating Officer of General Monitors. In 2012, Mr. Vartanian was named Vice President of the company’s global Fixed Gas and Flame Detection business.

Mr. Vartanian earned his bachelor’s degree in management from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst in 1983. His work has enabled him to live in many diverse communities throughout the U.S., including Massachusetts, Florida, Georgia, Virginia, Pennsylvania, and California.

In addition to his MSA responsibilities, Mr. Vartanian serves on the Board of Trustees for the Manufacturers Alliance for Productivity and Innovation (MAPI), the Board of Trustees for the International Association of Firefighters (IAFF), the Board of Trustees for the Senator John Heinz History Center, and the Board of Trustees of the Allegheny Conference on Community Development (ACCD), chairing the Infrastructure
Committee. He is also a director of the Federal Reserve Bank of Cleveland’s Pittsburgh branch.

An avid golfer and snow skier, Mr. Vartanian is a member of Oakmont Country Club in Oakmont, Pa., and Laurel Valley Golf Club, Ligonier, Pa. He is also a member of the Duquesne Club, a private business and social club founded in 1873 and located in downtown Pittsburgh.

Mr. Vartanian is married with three children and resides in the Pine Township community north of Pittsburgh.
