James Huguley
James (Jay) Huguley is an Associate Professor and the Associate Dean for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion at the University of Pittsburgh School of Social Work. He is a research-to-practice scholar focused on school-based interventions that support racial equity and African American student achievement. Dr. Huguley is the Principal Investigator for the Just Discipline Project, which does research and programming on best practices in school discipline and climate, and for Parenting While Black, which supports Black families in navigating a racialized society. Dr. Huguley is a former schoolteacher and youth program director. He received his Bachelors in English/Secondary Education from Providence College, and both his master’s and doctorate in human development from Harvard University.
