Gregory Peaslee is executive vice president and chief administrative officer for UPMC; he’s also an advocate and strong supporter of Southwest PA Says NO MORE. Southwest PA Says NO MORE is a partnership between United Way, FISA Foundation and the Heinz Endowments that aims to prevent domestic violence and sexual assault by helping individuals and organizations take action to stop gender-based violence.

“As a business leader and an individual, it’s important to me to show we are listening and we care deeply about supporting employees who might be involved in a domestic violence situation,” Greg said.

United Way, with help from Greg Peaslee and other UPMC employees, will host its annual Father’s Day Pledge Signing Ceremony at the US Steel Tower. Here, hundreds of local leaders show they are standing up and speaking out against gender violence.

Sexual assault and domestic violence are preventable crimes, but change requires leadership. This statewide campaign and the signing ceremony give community leaders the opportunity to sign the Pledge, publicly vowing to take action to end domestic violence and sexual assault.

“This is a societal issue. We all need to take a place in fixing this,” Greg explained. “I think that starts with signing this pledge.”

Greg is proud that UPMC continues to support the annual Father’s Day Pledge Signing and United Way’s Southwest PA Says NO MORE initiative because he knows it’s valuable to his employees. “Our employees appreciate this support from UPMC. They recognize that we are taking a leadership role and many of our employees have since felt comfortable sharing their own stories,” Greg said.
